Field-deployable molecular diagnostic platform for arbovirus detection in Aedes aegypti
This study evaluates the performance of the bCUBE system, a compact and portable qPCR platform, as a tool for molecular surveillance of arboviruses directly in the field. By comparing results with those obtained from standard laboratory instrumentation on Aedes aegypti mosquitoes experimentally infected with Zika and Dengue viruses, researchers demonstrated that the device offers high sensitivity and specificity, effectively detecting viral RNA in both single specimens and mosquito pools. The data indicate that this technology represents a reliable and rapid solution for entomological monitoring, enabling the decentralization of diagnostics and supporting vector control strategies in at-risk areas more timely.
